Despite of additional endeavours made for future growth the Silicon Sensor Group performed above expectation in the first six months of 2008. Sales increased by 10 % to € 20.6 mn (30.06.2007: € 18.82 mn). The achieved EBIT-Margin in the first half year of 2008 was approximately 18 %.
Increased material costs plus higher personnel costs, mainly at Microelectronic Packaging Dresden GmbH and at Silicon Micro Sensors GmbH, reduced the EBIT by 16% from € 4.5 mn (30.06.2007) to € 3.8 mn (30.06.2008). The net income after interest and tax developed due to a reduced tax burden from € 2.577 mn (30.06.2007) to approximately € 2.5 mn. The earnings per share of the reporting period amount due to the increased number of shares to € 0.64 and thus only € 0.09 below the previous year result (30.06.2008: € 0.73). The order back log of the group diluted by 13% to approximately € 18 mn (30.06.2008) compared to the order back log of the previous quarter (31.03.2008: € 20.7 mn). The variance to the previous quarter is caused by orders with order terms of more than one year. The headcount increased from 280 (30.06.2007) to 320.
The new sensor production plant will be ready for equipment at end of August 2008. The consequent removal and the necessary stop of production will cause a stock disposal in the 2nd half of 2008. In order to meet supply readiness, stocks were built up in 2007 and in the first six months of 2008 and have increased profitability in these periods. In the 2nd half of 2008 the stock disposal will lower the profitability and thus the higher profit of the previous periods will be compensated.
Due to the results of the first six months of 2008 the sales forecast for the total business year 2008 increases from € 38.0 mn to € 39.4 mn.
All figures reflect the the present and preliminary status of the group close process and can change with further progress and checks conducted in this process.
