After studying physics at RWTH Aachen, Dr. Dirk Rothweiler began his career in 1991 as a research associate in the Chair for Laser Technology at RWTH Aachen and at Fraunhofer ILT, where he served as manager for industrial projects. After earning his doctorate, he went to work in the Semiconductor Division at Carl Zeiss in 1995. In 1999 Dr. Rothweiler joined Süss Microtec, a manufacturer of systems and process solutions for microstructuring in the semiconductor industry and related markets. Six years later, Dr. Rothweiler became the Vice President Sales & Service in San Diego, California for technology startup TCZ, a joint venture between Cymer and Carl Zeiss. After working for ten years in the Asia-Pacific region and in North America, Dr. Rothweiler returned in Germany in 2008 where he led the global optics business for Jenoptik AG.
