First Sensor AG, a developer and manufacturer of standard products and customer-specific sensor solutions in the growth market for sensor technology, has obtained IATF 16949 certificates for its two subsidiaries in Dresden and its Berlin-Oberschöneweide location, laying the foundation for further growth in the Mobility target market. This certification proves that the sensor specialist meets the high quality standards of the automotive industry when it comes to turning visions of autonomous driving and green mobility into reality.
"With our APDs for the LIDAR technology, our cameras for driver assistance systems and our pressure sensors for energy-saving vehicles, we have a highly attractive range of products for the automotive industry. With the IATF 16949 certification, we have now laid the foundation for growth with current and new customers through these products and solutions," says Dr. Dirk Rothweiler, CEO of First Sensor AG.
The IATF certificate, which is valid for three years, is used across the entire automotive industry supply chain. The goal of the IATF standard is to constantly improve quality in the management system and achieve stable and efficient quality in processes in order to increase customer satisfaction in the automotive industry. Errors and risks in the production process and supply chain should be avoided or recognized at an early stage, their causes remedied, and effective corrective and improvement measures initiated.
In 2017, First Sensor generated EUR44.5 million in the Mobility target market. This corresponds to 30 percent of the company's total sales. With the start of series production of the "Blue Next" camera range at the beginning of this year, First Sensor Mobility GmbH secured a supply agreement for an international tier-1 supplier of driver assistance systems until 2022. In the LIDAR sector, First Sensor is currently providing various companies with samples of a new generation of APDs. The LIDAR technology is a crucial element in autonomous driving. In addition, First Sensor concluded a follow-up supply agreement last year for high-pressure sensors for electro-hydraulic steering systems with a US tier-1 supplier from 2019 to 2024. The steering systems, which boast a lower fuel consumption than purely hydraulic ones, will be installed in pick-up vehicles of a global automotive group.
