First Sensor Lewicki GmbH was founded in 1967 with activities in space applications and looks back on decades of experience in the field of thick-film technology, in particular the construction of discrete and integrated power semiconductors and their hermetic encapsulation.
Applications for aerospace place high demands on the processes for assembling the power semiconductor, the housing used and the test methods used to qualify the components. For applications where high power densities are required, high demands are placed on thermal management within the assemblies (e. g. low Rth for efficient heat dissipation) in order to guarantee the highest reliability of the component under load. The competence for the construction of discrete highly reliable semiconductors was created by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) through the specification for the qualification of an assembly and test house (ATH) at the national level. Within the scope of this definition, First Sensor Lewicki GmbH has been certified by DLR as a certified ATH for the domain of power semiconductors since 2015. Within the scope of the domain, discrete power semiconductors with a wide bandwidth can be built up in voltage and current resistance. The components can be supplied for later SMD mounting as well as for THT mounting. At present, the construction of discrete high-voltage semiconductor diodes suitable for space use is also being qualified, which will be available from the end of 2017.
