For level sensing in industrial process control systems, First Sensor supplies hydrostatic OEM submersible sensors and OEM pressure transmitters for the development and construction of plants, measuring systems, and devices. In addition, we can offer you customer-specific solutions and our comprehensive technical development support. Our level sensing product range is supplemented by cost-effective optoelectronic limit switches.
A hydrostatic level sensor directly above the tank or vessel floor measures the pressure of the column of fluid above it, which behaves proportionally to the height of the fluid. Depending on the product, the measurement data is issued in the form of analog current or voltage signals of a continuous measurement. If you do not want to drill into the tank floor or if you are measuring in open reservoirs, submersible sensors are lowered from above on the cable directly into the medium. Otherwise, a transmitter with a screw thread for attachment to the exterior tank wall is suitable. Pressure transmitters and submersible sensors for hydrostatic measurements are sophisticated and largely resistant to corrosive and aggressive substances because the pressure gage and housing for the sensors – depending on the surrounding medium – can be made of ceramic, stainless steel, or plastic.
First Sensor's range of pressure transmitters and submersible sensors comprises the compact CTE family with slim housings, the extremely rugged BTE pressure transmitters made of stainless steel, and the KTE family with housings and pressure connections made of plastic for high compatibility with many corrosive and aggressive liquid media. Furthermore, we offer sensors with a flush-mount membrane that prevent the build-up of deposits and are easy to clean. We can adapt all pressure transmitters and submersible sensors quickly and flexibly to your specific requirements, for example, in terms of calibration, mechanical structure, process connection, electrical connection, or output signal.
Optoelectronic level switches are a simple and cost-effective variant for level sensing applications. The principle: An LED emits light into a prism, where it is diffracted and reflected onto a photo transistor. This functions as long as the prism is exposed to the air due to a low fill level. However, if the tip of the sensor is immersed in a fluid, the light is diffracted and directed into the medium. The photo transistor no longer receives any light, which then triggers a switch operation. Optoelectronic level switches are small, easy to install and highly versatile. First Sensor also offers various housing variants for optimum media compatibility and ease of attachment.
