First Sensor is regularly contacted by schools that are asking for computers for their classes. Until now, donating has been out of the question in order to protect the sensitive data on the devices. When a teacher at the Lina Morgenstern Gemeinschaftsschule whose father works at First Sensor came to us asking for hardware, employees in Berlin-Weißensee put their heads together and suggested that we give them computers and monitors, but without hard drives – a solution that went down very well.
Taking this approach, First Sensor donated ten desktop PCs, two notebooks and 31 monitors to the Lina Morgenstern Community School in 2018. The school intends to use these modern tools to enhance its teaching materials and improve the media literacy of its pupils. First Sensor was also able to rely on family ties to ensure that the devices were fit for handover, as the daughter of an IT employee was in the process of completing her student internship with us during this period. We are currently checking whether further locations can donate monitors and computers without hard drives to interested schools.
