Industrial History Comes to Life

The First Sensor AG headquarters in Berlin-Oberschöneweide is a member of Industriesalon Schöneweide e. V., which has undertaken the task of revitalizing the industrial quarter of Berlin-Oberschöneweide founded in 1889, so as to make it more attractive to visitors and investors. First Sensor regards itself as part of this impressive district of Berlin steeped in history and has been supporting the association for years now. The Industriesalon exhibition is in large part comprised of pieces donated by what was then Silicon Sensor AG, the predecessor to today’s First Sensor AG. In addition, in 2018 we also sponsored the purchase of monitors to make the exhibition even more effective through the inclusion of videos of contemporary witnesses. We are also actively involved in other Industriesalon projects.

„Tour of Labour“

In 2019, the Industriesalon Schöneweide opened the "Tour of Labour" together with Gerry Woop, Berlin's State Secretary for Europe, to enable visitors to experience authentic work yesterday, today and tomorrow. The "cathedrals" of the industrial era, which still characterize Oberschöneweide today, are the starting points of the tour. Of course, First Sensor must not be missed. For this reason, we presented current production processes in clean rooms at our headquarters in Berlin-Oberschöneweide. The "Tour der Arbeit" is sponsored by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe.

„Ongoing Production“

Another example is the Ongoing Production photographic exhibition from the year 2016, which shows that to this day Schöneweide remains an attractive industrial area. Alongside First Sensor, eight other companies have also opened their doors to photography group Ortoklick. It provides an illustration of the broad spectrum of companies that are based at this historical location – from high-tech facilities for the manufacture of complex electronics to smelting at an open flame.



The exhibition has already been on display at the University of Applied Sciences (HTW) and the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises. To ensure that the shots are nicely presented, First Sensor helped to procure frames.
